Hi friends! My
name is Joelle, and I have a problem. Well, I don't necessarily see it as a
problem, but if you ask anyone who knows me (or has even read my blog),
they'll tell you I do.
You see, I have
a slight major obsession with a Ms. Taylor Swift. Even now, writing this on a music blog like this
one, I can only imagine how you're cringing inside. I know, typically the only
people who love T (yes, I have my own nickname for her), are giggly tweenagers.
And I am most definitely not a giggly tweenager.
The very first
song I remember hearing of Taylor's was Love Story, and it was in January of
2009. It came on the radio one morning, but I didn't think much of it. A little
later in the day, I heard it again, and thought it was catchy enough to put it
on my iPod. I listened to that song on repeat for days, and it was less than a
week later that my boyfriend proposed to me.
That fall was a
difficult one for me. My fiance had to return to school, 2 hours away, for his
senior year, while I was an unemployeed college graduate, living with my
parents. Taylor is who got me through that time. I listened to her first two
albums constantly, loving how her songs related so much to my life. She was
only nineteen at the time, but she was one smart nineteen year-old.
When planning my
wedding, I knew that I needed to have at least one Taylor Swift song, so I walked
down the aisle to an instrumental version of Love Story, played on the piano.
There wasn't one dry eye in the church that day.
I get sad when I
hear how many people dislike her, whether for her questionable singing voice
(though there's no question about it for me, just listen to her most recent
live concert), goody two-shoes appearance, or "immature" song lyrics.
To me, these people have no idea who the real Taylor Swift is. I'm sure they've
never heard this song. Or this one.
Or this one.
There is a Taylor
Swift song for every single girl out there, whether she's fifteen or eighty-seven.
I feel very lucky
that there is an artist out there who inspires me the way that Taylor Swift
does. Not everyone has that, and that's unfortunate. So I say, when you find
that person (or group) for you, then embrace it. Even if it is Taylor
Swift.

It's great to be inspired!
While I don't listen to her often, as her music doesn't actually click with me that much, I do think she's absolutely adorable.
I really like her as well. I dont usually gravite towards her type of music but something about her draws me in and I cant help but sing along.
I love this! I don't like anything country or teeny-bopper and yet I ADORE Taylor Swift. She says exactly what I wish I could have said in all those high school encounters.
Just found this blog! Super excited to read along here, and going to check out yours too!
