[It's A HUGE Album Release/Blog Party For Heather Laveaux]

Today is a super exciting day!  My band sponsor Heather Laveaux is releasing her very first album today!  And being a girl who is always down for a party, I figured this was the perfect excuse for one!  So, 7 other bloggers decided to join me in bringing Ms Laveaux's EP "3 Octave Martini" into the big ole music world!

Today, I'm going to talk about the album itself...
"3 Octave Martini" is a wonderful little 5 track EP!  Heather Laveaux (the woman of the hour) brings us three original songs as well as two fairly famous songs she has covered and put into new packaging!  The flow of the album is delightfully slick.  Though Heather's music is primarily jazz based, there are little hints of other music stylings thrown in.  You catch a touch of pop, a touch of blues and every once in awhile, even a touch of the showtune!  It's clear and bright, with this tinge of darkness, that keeps you guessing.  Heather Laveaux voice fits her music perfectly, as it mixes just the right amount of fun and sleaze, just like a well oiled martini!

"3 Octave Martini" starts out with the song "Anything".  It's a smooth jazz standard that is not only that, but also tells a story.  Who doesn't love a good story song?!

Then we head into the song "Never".  Though this song is still heavily dipped in jazz, there is a strong pop influence, which adds a new aspect to the EP.

Next Ms Laveaux takes an old Billy Joel favorite "She's Got A Way", and adds her own twist to it.  Remaking it while also respecting the original material.

Track 4 is an original once again.  "Mornin" has a slight gospel vibe, which I love!  It brings just the right amount of drama, without taking away from the flow of the album!

And lastly, Heather takes on Peggy Lee's jazz standard "Why Don't You Do Right?"  I love Peggy and I love what Heather has done with this tune!  It's fun, smooth and ever so saucy!

So, I'm sure after that you want to get your hands on your own copy of "3 Octave Martini"?  Am I right?  Well, you can find Heather Laveaux's album over on iTunes and Amazon or her website!
