[I Saw Chickenfoot]

I am a firm believer that there is almost nothing better then seeing old school rockers play a live show.  There is just something about watching a pro who has been around for years, or in this case 4 pros play a live set that lasts about 2 hours.

On Saturday, June 9th, I headed down to the Santa Barbara Bowl in Santa Barbara, California to catch Chickenfoot live!  Haven't heard of Chickenfoot?  They are a supergroup made up of some iconic rock n roll musicians.  Which ones, you ask?  Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani, Michael Anthony and Chad Smith.  Though, The Red Hot Chili Peppers are currently on tour, so Kenny Aronoff was stepping in on drums for Chickenfoot's "Different Devil" tour!

The band just recently released their third studio album "Chickenfoot III", the follow up to their albums "Chickenfoot" and "Chickenfoot II".  Though, I was not personally familiar with all of the bands music, I was blown away by their live show!  It was Sammy's first time playing in Santa Barbara (I'm not sure about the other guys).

Chickenfoot put on a true rock concert.  The musicianship of each member of the band was displayed exceptionally well, and their years of craftsmanship shown through like a blinding beacon.  It was one of those shows that I know I was lucky to see live.  Not only did their musicianship blow me away, but their showmanship did as well.  All four members of the band worked the stage, the audience and each other.  Their banter with each other was a lot of fun to watch and their interaction with the crowd was rather brilliant!

The band played a selection of songs from all three of their albums, a few covers and a lovely tribute to all of the musicians that we have lost this year.  Far too many great names, if you ask me.  Needless to say, Chickenfoot blew me away.  If you ever have a chance to see these awesome musicians play live, take it, relish it and celebrate the music!

Wow! That's a show is have loved to catch!!! How amazing to see them live! Nice too that they didn't phone it in when they really could've gotten away with it.

Ahhh, this made me think of my first concert -- the Monkees when they went on tour in the late '80s! :)
