While on the never ending search for awesome new tunes, I stumbled upon this little gem of a band, when one of you suggested that I give them a listen via Twitter. Well, I'm so glad that I did. The band "Laura Stevenson and the Cans" has a delightfully long winded band name, but it fits.
The band is quirky, in the best sense of the word. The musicianship is bouncy, yet never fluffy. It's grounded solidly on the floor, but without ever loosing it's charm. It's hard to put your finger on how to categorize "Laura Stevenson and the Cans", there are so many things going on musically. There is a touch of folk, a touch of dream pop, a touch of grunge, a touch of rock and a few other genres. Combined it all together and you get what these guys put out into the music world. The fact that you can't put your finger on it, is what makes it so much fun! Laura Stevenson's lyrics ring out and her vocals are just as unique as the music. She's a very passionate vocalist, and she likes to tell some awesome stories with her words.
Though I haven't listened to a ton of "Laura Stevenson and the Cans" tunes yet, they have impressed me and I can't wait to dive deeper into their music library!

well that was a fun song! I like her voice but its a little hard to understand what she is singing. Oh well, I guess I'll have to listen to it again (which is okay with me).

they sound awesome! Though I've never heard of them before, I was so surprised when the first notes of the video started playing, they sound (and look!) like so much fun! I have to find more of their music :) Thanks for sharing!
