What The Hell Wednesday: A List.

Source: goo.gl via Christianna on Pinterest

So nothing terribly "What The Hell" worthy happened this week, but a few small things did.  And so for this edition, I decided to make a list of those little moments.  P.S. I'm also linking up with Michelle of "The Vintage Apple" for her link up "Oh How Pinteresting".

#1: I found this comic on Pinterest yesterday, and it made me laugh.  It also made me say "what the hell".  I mean, who comes up with this stuff?  It's pretty clever though.  Which is also how I feel about the flick "The Cabin In The Woods"!  Have you seen it?  No?  Go see it!

#2: Blogger isn't posting my scheduled posts right now.  "What the hell" Blogger?  It's making things a little more then inconvenient.  Is anyone else having this issue?

#3: All of Jack White's California tour dates sold out so fast that I didn't get tickets (what the hell?), and that hurts my heart.  So Jack, if you're reading this for some reason, hook this long standing fan up with two tickets for any one of your Cali dates... Please!  I'll write you an awesome review!  Or, in that case anyone who could help me with this, let me know.

#4: "What the hell" makes fan fiction so popular?  I'm not into it, but what are your thoughts?

Yeah, there you have it.  "What the hell" happened to extremely awesome inspiration this week?  I don't know?  Sometimes weeks like this happen...

Ok, now it's your turn, link up and let us all know what made you say/think "what the hell" this week? A movie, a tv show, a song, something that happened to you?

Here's how:
1: Post about your "what the hell" moment, whatever it is...

2: Grab my "WTHW" button and it embed it into your post...

3: Link back to my "what the hell" post...

4: There is this thing called a "linky", add our link in there...

5: Grab the code where it says "grab the code" and post it at the bottom of your post...

6: Go say "hey" or "what the hell" on everyone's posts...

7: Comment if you feel like it!

Your question about fan fiction made me laugh! I used to be interested in Harry Potter fan fictions... but it's hard to describe. I guess when you love something so much, you want to know every little piece about it, so it's fun to experience that world in a different sort of way, a way -you- get to imagine, rather than the author.

Fan fiction - I don't know why. Here I am, a "serious" writer, and I'm still writing the occasional fanfic. I posted a piece of one today, in fact. My best guesses are:

1) Wish fulfillment - you get the characters in your hands and you can control them, make them do what you want them to do.

2)This is how creative people work. Give us a teeny bit of inspiration and we'll run with it.

Don't get me started on Harry Potter fanfics - some of them are way out of control. Ever see that clip of Ralph Fiennes reading an excerpt from a Harry/Voldemort (yep, THAT kind of slash) fic? Deeply disturbing.

Ultimately, though, fanfics can be useful writing exercises that help develop our "real" writing skills. If people want to read them, great! Give the people whatever they want to read.

I need to see Cabin in the Woods. I have wussy friends who don’t like scary movies. Hopefully I’ll get to see it next week. Blogger is being a pain for me too. I can’t believe Jack’s concert sold out already. Bummer. Try stubhub. It’ll be more expensive, but at least you’ll get to go. Fan fiction kind of weirds me out.
